The Purina Dog Chow team visited the Northwest Battle Buddies training facility earlier this month to film some of our new Veteran teams in training and their dogs performing tasks that help mitigate the symptoms of PTSD. For the past five years, the Dog Chow Service Dog Salute program has been taking action to support the care and training of more service dogs for Veterans — so that every military hero in need can find a canine hero of their own. This year, NWBB is partnering with Purina Dog Chow to help raise awareness for the life-changing abilities of Veteran PTSD service dogs.

For the past seven years, Purina Dog Chow has been on a mission to help connect more Veterans in need with life-saving PTSD service dogs. To date, their Service Dog Salute program has donated more than $1.2 million to support the care and training of more PTSD service dogs for America’s Veterans. They’ve also helped fund critical research, helped pass important legislation, and raised awareness for these dogs’ life-changing roles across the Veteran and general public.
This year, the Dog Chow team is zeroing in on some of the remarkable skills that PTSD service dogs are uniquely trained to do to assist their Veteran handlers. Purina Dog Chow has asked to partner with Northwest Battle Buddies to film some of these unique skills to help educate the public on what sets these dogs apart from therapy dogs, emotional support animals, and other types of service dogs while demonstrating why PTSD service dogs are such a vital resource for our nation’s Veterans in need.
